Privacy Policy
Muster ("we," "us," or "our") operates a safety check-in service that allows groups to confirm the well-being of their members via SMS. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you register for or use Muster:
- Name — to identify you within your group
- Mobile phone number — to send and receive SMS check-in messages
- Email address — for account management and notifications
- Check-in responses — your replies to check-in messages (e.g., safe, need help)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to operate the Muster service:
- Sending SMS check-in requests to group members
- Recording and displaying check-in responses to authorized group administrators
We do not use your information for marketing purposes. We will never send you promotional or advertising messages.
SMS Messaging
Muster is a business-to-business service. Organizations (such as employers) enroll their members by uploading contact information through the Muster platform. By enrolling members, the organization confirms that it has obtained appropriate consent from those individuals to receive work-related SMS communications, consistent with their employment agreement or organizational policies.
Enrolled members may receive SMS messages from Muster on behalf of their organization for safety check-in purposes. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your organization's use of the service.
To opt out of SMS messages at any time, reply STOP to any message.
SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties or affiliates.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for commercial or marketing purposes. Your information may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- Within your group: Your name and check-in status are visible to your group administrator(s)
- Service providers: We use Twilio to deliver SMS messages on our behalf. Twilio processes your phone number solely to deliver messages
- Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect the safety of users
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your employer or group maintains an active Muster account. Historical check-in data is retained for the organization's records even if an individual member is deactivated.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
